LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are they who say of me, "There is no help for him in God." Selah
I have an assignment for you, I want you to read Psalms 3-through-5 sometime today. They have 28 verses in all. The background to all three is the same and can be found in 2 Samuel 15-17 as aging David is fleeing his palace in Jerusalem in the middle of the night, because his son Absalom has led a revolt and has come with an army to overthrow his father’s kingdom. From the doubt David wrestled with early in the morning in Psalm 3, not knowing what God had in mind; to Psalm 4 later that evening, as a glimmer of hope was seen on the horizon. Eventually in Psalm 5, David, in prayer, would declare his hope in his God, though the outcome of the coup was still in doubt. From fear, to hope, to faith…God led His man forward. Today He will do the same for you.
Encouraged by His faithfulness,
