So they went out and preached that people should repent.
In Mark 6, Jesus sent out the 12 disciples to some of the neighboring cities to give the Gospel, the good news. And what was the crux of the their message? It was the same as the one given by Jesus in Mark 1:15, "Repent, and believe in the gospel."
Our relationship with Christ all starts with repentance, turning from doing things our way to doing things God's way. It's not much fancier than that. It doesn't require a gargantuan task to fulfill or a ton of dough to give. What it really requires is a different mindset, a mind that isn't focused on ourselves and the things of the world, but a mind that is filled with the things of Jesus.
So many times when we share our faith, we want to try to argue people into the Kingdom. It's not usually very successful. What is? Reminding people that the things of this world are useless, but the things of God are eternal.
