Proverbs 24:17-18

Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; Lest the Lord see it, and it displease Him, And He turn away His wrath from him.
Proverbs 24:17-18

These are some tough verses to swallow. The first time I read this verse, I had to stop where I was and repent before the Lord. It is so easy to find yourself happy when your enemy fails. As followers of Christ, we are not to rejoice when our enemy falls, even if they had it coming to them. Rejoicing in our enemy's shortcomings is displeasing to the Lord; and don't let the wording of this verse fool you, He will see it. Jesus calls us to love our enemy and pray for them, so when you see your enemy fall, pray for them and fight the urge to rejoice.

For the King,

Daniel Batistelli
