Psalm 78:14

In the daytime also He led them with the cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
Psalm 78:14

In this verse, we find God's people in the midst of the wilderness, holding on to His promise to lead them through it.

For us, the wilderness may be that place where trouble seems to be around every corner; where the things we need to survive are beyond our reach. Our resources have run out. Our abilities are not enough. When we are at the end of ourselves, we begin looking for the Lord, who has been there all along, ready to guide.

Don't know which direction to take? In this wilderness, the Lord provided a cloud for His people to follow, which meant that they had to look up, rather than at their surroundings. Then, when darkness filled the wilderness, He led them all the night with a light of fire. As long as they kept their focus on God and His way, the path to the Promised Land was right in front of them.

This morning, let's follow the path that He has set before each of us, guided by His Spirit, and illuminated by His Word. The Promised Land awaits!
