Ephesians 5:18

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18

When a person becomes drunk, they fall under the influence of an outside substance and lose control of their actions and words. In his letter to the Ephesian church, Paul links the idea of being drunk and filled with the Spirit. As Christians, our desire is not to be under the influence of any earthly substance, but rather we should live under the influence of the Spirit.

In the original Greek, this verse would read, "be continually filled with the Spirit." If we want our actions, words, and lives to be moved by the influence of the Spirit, there is a continuous filling of the Spirit that needs to take place. We can't expect to live under the influence of the Spirit if we are not opening our Bibles daily to be filled by Him. My question to you this morning is what are you living under the influence of? Are you being continuously filled?

For the King,

Daniel Batistelli
