Jeremiah 31:30

But every one shall die for his own iniquity; every man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.
Jeremiah 31:30

There was a generation in the days of Jeremiah who were quick to blame others for their behavior. The adage of the day was: "Because our fathers have eaten sour grapes, their children's teeth are set on edge." In other words, it is not our fault we turned out this way, it is the fault of our parents. We live in a culture and a time that has perfected the blame game. I'm the way I am through no fault of my own. Yet the salvation that God offers to every man is only available to those who confess their sinfulness and need for a Savior.

Jeremiah corrects the idea that others can be blamed for our ways and says that each man dies for his own sin. You eat sour grapes, your teeth are set on edge. God will hold us responsible for our decisions and behaviors! It is a message that we must heed and share. For His Son will straighten our teeth and cleanse us from our sin!

Guilty and forgiven!
