1 Peter 4:17

For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?
1 Peter 4:17

This verse reminds me of 2 Chronicles 7:14, a verse we often use around national holidays or the National Day of Prayer. We will use this verse and ask God to heal our nation and our land. The problem is that we will often say how wicked the people of our nation are and how they need healing, instead of hearing the heart of this verse; revival starts with us.

In the above verse, Peter is telling the early church that judgment starts with us. The verse in 2 Chronicles starts with "If my people turn from their wicked ways." So many times in our prayer lives, we will ask God to change the hearts of the people in our nation, but instead, we should be asking God to give us the strength to be light to a dark world. Revival starts in our heart, it starts with us turning from our sins and becoming lights that bring the good news of Jesus Christ. We know the end of those who do not receive the gospel, let us be a people who are showing just how irresistible Jesus is; then we will see our land healed.

For the King,

Daniel Batistelli
