Job 1:20-21

Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. And he said: "Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD."
Job 1:20-21

When my first wife passed away, I was on the Worship Team at Harvest Christian Fellowship and was scheduled to sing that next Sunday. The Pastor was concerned that I was planning to stay on schedule because this tragedy was still so fresh. But I was honest with him and said that even though my life had just been turned upside down, in my heart of hearts, there was no other place I could think to be than before God's people in worship. Then I quoted the verse above and he understood.

When tragedy strikes, no matter how devastating, we can proclaim, "Blessed be the name of the Lord."

Humble in worship,

Pastor Gerard Deleeuw
