2 Corinthians 6:14

Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14

When I first came to the Lord, I had to make a hard choice. Hang out with my friends of 16 years or have no friends and hope the Lord would give me new ones at church. I chose to keep my old friends for a few months and I saw first-hand what Paul is talking about here. I had nothing in common with them but, even worse, I was a terrible witness of Jesus to them.

I've once heard it said that friends are like elevators. They will bring you up or take you down. I was taken down until I parted ways and the Lord gave me so many friendships at church! Fellowship with the brethren is important for our walk. Relationships are deeper, the advice is better, and you share a common purpose, to glorify God. I encourage you today, be a witness in this world, but do not be of this world.

In His love,

Sean Boehm
