Psalm 119:68

You are good, and do good; Teach me Your statutes.
Psalm 119:68

This simple verse contains the power of absolute truth. God is good. He is not mostly good, or sometimes good; He is goodness itself.

His ultimate act of goodness was sending Jesus to die for our sins. We have an eternal, born-again relationship with our Heavenly Father because of God's good gift of salvation. Believe and follow, He graciously does the rest.

And here's a scriptural and spiritual fact: Everything God does is good. Spurgeon reminds us to "remember the goodness of God in the frost of adversity." The pain, suffering, and heartbreak that we experience in this fallen world are dreadfully real, even though our sense of reason may fail us, the goodness of God will not.

Today, may our response to His goodness be this cry to the Lord, "Teach me Your statutes!" I want to know all I can about Him through His Spirit and His Word, and I'll bet you do, too.
