Psalm 139:7-8

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.
Psalm 139:7-8

Psalm 139 is one of my favorite Psalms in the Bible. There are so many rich truths that point to God’s perfect knowledge concerning man and, even better, His incredible pursuit to keep those who are His on the path that leads to Him. In the passage above, it speaks not only of God's ability but His desire to remain near us no matter where we may find ourselves. As sinners, we tend to view God pulling away from us the minute we start screwing up or we find ourselves in a dark place. Truth be told, He hasn't gone anywhere. Psalm 139:12 says, "Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You."

Our God has total knowledge of us (Psalm 139:1-2), a knowledge I personally wouldn’t want to know about myself, and yet in verse 17, the psalmist says, "How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!" How great to belong to a God who knows the worst about me, and yet doesn't hide himself from me. Instead, He pursues me with precious thoughts.

I hope you know that this is how God pursues and views you!
