Matthew 27:17

Therefore, when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?"
Matthew 27:17

During the feast, the governor was accustomed to releasing one prisoner back to the people (Matthew 27:15). The people would choose and that's who would be released. Here we read about the choice that Pilate gave to the people -- Jesus or Barabbas. This isn't the first time we find the people are given a choice. God gave us free will. In order to exercise our free will, we need to have a choice. God gave Adam and Eve a choice, "Eat of whatever tree you wish but not of the knowledge of good and evil" (Genesis 2:16-17). In Joshua 24:15, Joshua said, "Choose this day who you will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

On the contrary, the kings who opposed God's laws would force people to worship them. The great thing is that God will never force us to love Him or choose Him. He gives that over to us. But He gives us many reasons to love Him. He will seek us in those places to show you that He loves us and, if you still reject Him, He will leave you alone. At the same time when you realize you need Him, He will forgive you and take you back. Today, we have the very same choice. Is our decision going to be based on the opinion of others like Pilate? Is it going to be based on the latest trends? Who are you going to choose? Jesus or …

Choosing Jesus,
