Proverbs 21:31

The horse prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance is of the Lord.
Proverbs 21:31

Preparation and planning are the fundamental steps each of us should take when embarking on any endeavor. With this work underway, those who belong to the Lord understand that their hope for success does not reside in their own efforts; it rests entirely upon the Lord and Him alone.

Oliver Cromwell, historically one of England's most successful military leaders, told his troops these words just before a battle in which they were greatly outnumbered: "Put your trust in the Lord – and keep your powder dry!"

Today, as we go forward in our lives, let's do our best to take the practical steps necessary to be good stewards over the provisions that we have been blessed with. Let's trust the results to Him every day, with every step, and with every prayer.

The fourth-century theologian Augustine got it right when he said, "Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you."
