2 Peter 2:7-8

And delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds).
2 Peter 2:7-8

Do you want to impact the world around you? Take a lesson from Lot on what not to do.

When the angels came to destroy Sodom, they found Lot at the gate (Genesis 19:1). Peter says that inwardly, Lot was oppressed by the filth around him. But outwardly, Lot must have said nothing because how else could he have become such a prominent a man to have a seat at the gate of the city? In fact, when he went to warn his two sons-in-law that judgment was at hand, they thought he was joking (Genesis 19:14).

Lot's mistake was that he lived as close to the world as he could. He was so busy fitting in that he never saw the big picture. In the end Lot was saved, but his wife, his sons, and all his friends were lost.

So let's take a lesson from Lot. Let's esteem our family and friends above our own popularity.
