Psalm 133:1

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Psalm 133:1

When you really meditate on this truth above you can't help but think on how great unity truly is amongst other believers. However, it also has a way of reminding you of the opposite. The enemy certainly does a good job in bringing about division in the body of the church. Hurt feelings, petty disagreements, pride, mistrust, and the countless other things that keep us from dwelling in unity seem to get the better of us in many situations.

Here's the solution to deal with all these endless reasons that lead to division – LOVE. Go read 1 Corinthians 13 and try to come away with a justifiable excuse to hold onto your grudge, to not forgive, to not try or give the effort to make right something that went wrong. As Christ hung on a cross in front of His accusers, He said with great love and compassion, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."

We are a fallen people who make mistakes all of the time, but as believers who now have the same Spirit inside of us that Jesus had when He hung on the cross. We not only have a duty to work towards unity, but we have an example who models unconditional love, a love that we can and should exercise when things go wrong. Jesus gives us no room for pride, no room for hating and backbiting, but He gives us plenty of reason and room to LOVE.

Father, help us all,

Pastor Jason Witt
