John 15:7, 8, 10-11

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
John 15:7, 8, 10-11

What does Jesus mean by fruit? Some would say that Jesus is speaking of good works. Others would emphasize evangelism and soul-winning. But good works and soul-winning will always be the work of the Holy Spirit in a believer's life. So in effect, they are the by-product of the fruit that Jesus is speaking of. Jesus is speaking of the fruit of the Spirit "Love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control" (Gal 5:21,22). This fruit is the life of the believer. Abiding in Christ will produce effective prayer, perpetual fruit, and celestial joy.

Effective Prayer: "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you" (John 17:7).

Perpetual Fruit: "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit" (John 15:8).

Celestial Joy: "These things I have spoken you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full" (John 15:11).

When we have this type of fruit, we draw others into the presence of God through the way that we live.
