Habakkuk 3:17-19

Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills.
Habakkuk 3:17-19

Habakkuk was a prophet who lived shortly before the commencement of the Babylonian captivity that saw the southern kingdom of Judah hauled 700 miles away, for 70 years, due to their disobedience to God and their devotion to idolatry. The prophet complained that God was doing nothing to help. In three chapters, Habakkuk will learn otherwise and our verse today was the result of him learning that God rules with love and goodness.

If you find yourself wondering if God knows, if God cares, or if He's working, go back and read this short book and the conclusion found above. Even when we do not yet see His hand at work, rest assured, He is working for His glory and for your good!

Knowing that He knows and cares for us,

Pastor Jack Abeelen
