1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Have you ever heard someone say, "I guess all I can do is pray?" That's like a starving man saying, "I guess all I can do is eat this food you've given me." Or a sick person saying, "I guess all I can do is take this medicine the doctor said would heal me."

Prayer unlocks the doors of heaven and releases the power of God. James 4:2 says "...you do not have because you do not ask." Jesus said, "And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive" (Matthew 21:22).

Many people are willing to perform works for God, but very few are willing to spend hours in prayer to God. Prayer goes against our nature, it is unnatural to us. But that is precisely why prayer counts so much with God because prayer is supernatural. Your prayers will always get God's attention.

Have you ever noticed that you only hear "God answered my prayer" when someone got what they were asking for? God grants our requests every time we pray. We forget that "No" and "Wait" are just as much of an answer as "Yes." As a dad, I answer every request my children make of me. But I don't always say yes. I try to only give them what's best for them. God's answers are always best.

Asking, waiting, trusting,
