James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5

You have heard it said, ask God for wisdom and He will give it to you. James would tell us that this is true. But what is wisdom? Wisdom is correctly applying knowledge. So correctly apply what you know. If you are lacking wisdom, the next thing to do is ask God and He will give it to you. The best part about asking God for wisdom is that He will give it generously without finding fault. Proverbs 2:6 says, "For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding." We are in a unique position here, we get to ask the source of wisdom for wisdom. What better place to start than from the Lord Himself?

I like that God won't hold back and hoard wisdom all to Himself. He freely gives wisdom to all that ask for it and He won't point out your failure or faults to use against you. Early on in my walk with the Lord, I felt that everything around me was falling apart. I did not know what to do next. A friend gave me this verse to memorize and told me to ask God for wisdom and He will give it to me. It wasn't like a light switch that went off and all of a sudden I was wise. Instead, it gave me confidence in the Lord that His Word was true. Then I was able to move forward with what I knew about Him to be true and with what would only hurt me further. If today you feel like you are lacking wisdom, just ask and He will give it to you without holding back.

Asking for wisdom,
