Psalm 40:1

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.
Psalm 40:1

If you're anything like me, you don't like to wait. I don't like to wait for food, I don't like to wait at the DMV, I don't like to wait for someone to call, I just don't like to wait for anything. The same dislike goes towards waiting patiently for the Lord to do something. But scripture tells us that waiting is good. Waiting teaches us about ourselves, it teaches us about others, and it teaches us about God.

We know from the psalmist David that God will incline Himself towards us and listen to our cries when we wait. While I don't like waiting, I've learned more by doing so rather than getting my answer right when I wanted it. Without waiting, I wouldn't be the man I am today, nor would you be the man or woman that you are. Knowing this truth allows us to let the Holy Spirit work in us the ability to wait patiently, for His Glory and for our benefit, and allows us not to worry because His ear is inclined to the cries of the heart.
