Jeremiah 29:7

And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace.
Jeremiah 29:7

God's people were destined to go into captivity due to their rebelliousness against their God for many generations. The Lord, through Jeremiah, told the people that the captivity would last 70 years and that they would be removed from their land and taken 700 miles away to Babylon. In our verse today, the Lord tells them how they can make their time in captivity easier on themselves. They should seek peace for the city and pray for their captor.

Are you stuck in a difficult place today that seems to always provide hardship and suffering? Try to follow God's advice here through Jeremiah. Pray specifically for the troublemakers and the situations that surround you. God will hear, deal with the trouble, and, as a result, you will find peace in that very place.

Learning to pray through it all,

Pastor Jack Abeelen
