1 Peter 1:3-4

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.
1 Peter 1:3-4

When someone dies, many times they leave an inheritance to those they care about. When Jesus died and rose, He left for us an inheritance as well. In the above verses, Peter tells these suffering saints that they should bless God because He has given them "an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away."

I don't know if you have ever been left an inheritance, but so many times it seems that by the time you receive it, it has decreased in value having had a few hands come and take their piece of the pie. From paying taxes and debt, to expenses and lawyers fees, by the time you see it, your inheritance has shriveled up greatly.

But Paul says here that our inheritance in Christ is nothing like an earthly one, it is, "incorruptible and undefiled," it can't be damaged or suffer decay and it won't be contaminated, soiled, or lessened in value. All because it is "reserved in heaven for you" kept and guarded in heaven by Jesus' sacrifice.

Just one of many great reasons to bless and praise the Lord whose promises and provision for us are kept safe and secure in Christ.
