Colossians 2:13-14

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Colossians 2:13-14

When my oldest daughter was still in high school, she was in the marching band and was required to turn in a practice log every week. This needed to be signed by a parent. I asked her where her log was because I hadn't seen it for a while. After some time in her room, she appeared with the log and where my signature should go it was all inked out. I could, however, see the tail of the 'G' from my usual signature sticking below the box and when I asked her about it, we both knew that she had forged my name and then blacked it out before she gave it to me.

She waited for the hammer to drop but I asked her to get me the whiteout. After brushing over all the blackness of the signature box, I asked for a pen and wrote my name where it should be. I then told her that's what grace looks like. Jesus takes the blackness of our lives and not only wipes it clean, but then He puts His own name over our sin and we get to walk in His righteousness.

He's whiting out my trespasses,

Pastor Gerard Deleeuw
