Matthew 6:10b

Your will be done.
Matthew 6:10b

This is the third request in the Lord's Prayer. The will of God is good because God is good, and everything He has ever done is good. The will of God is to be desired above everything because He is infinitely wise and infinitely loving. We should therefore, joyfully embrace the will of God because it will enrich our lives, nourish our souls, and bring Him glory.

The will of God is revealed in the Word of God. In the Word of God, we discover that the angels perfectly obey the Word of the Lord, as they joyfully serve him day and night. This is what we should pray for because there is nothing that will change our lives more for the better than for His will to be done in our lives. And there is nothing that will benefit our families more than for the will of God to be done in our families. And so on for our church, our city, our state, our nation, and indeed for the whole earth.

God does not promise that you will be shielded from pain, discomfort, or trouble. But He does promise that you can approach Him in prayer about anything and He said that by this, our joy would be made full. So pray that God's will be done in your life. Pray that you will accept His will, even if it includes pain or disease. Know that a loving Father does not allow pain unless He has good and holy plans for you through it. Praying for His will to be done is the only way to find the satisfaction your soul yearns for, despite your circumstances in this life.

His will is good because we have a good, good Father. It's who He is.
