Amos 1:1

The words of Amos, who was among the sheepbreeders of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
Amos 1:1

Do you ever doubt whether God can use you in your current situation? Whether it is the workplace, your neighborhood, your school, or even your home? "I'm not a trained minister," you might say. "I'm just a homemaker, or a student, or a simple provider for my family." Well in the introduction to the Book of Amos we see a simple farmer, a sheep breeder, and (as we'll learn later in the Book) a fig picker.

God lifted this untutored man, fresh from the hills of the Judean wilderness and sent him to Bethel, the pagan religious capital of the northern kingdom of Israel. There he prophesied against the city and the nation. If God used Amos for this ministry, how much more will He use us if we surrender to Him and make ourselves available for His Kingdom?

The simplicity of man in the hands of an awesome God,
