Ephesians 1:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
Ephesians 1:3

At the beginning of Paul's letter to the Ephesians, he points out to us the fact God has blessed us greatly, but often we have a wrong understanding of what those blessings are.

He has blessed us with "every spiritual blessing," Paul writes. The Greek word here for "spiritual" refers to the work of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the trinity. Many times when we think of blessings, we think of material blessings -- cars, homes, money, health, power. Some of these things certainly come to some believers as the Lord wills, but they're not promised to every believer, but these "spiritual blessings" have been given to us all.

If we turn to Galatians 5:22-23, we find the fruits of the Spirit. "Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control." They are blessings that are given to us as we walk in the Spirit, blessings that are intended to not only be a blessing to us, but they are also blessings that are to be shared with others through us.

So go and put to good use the blessings that you have received "in Christ" and use them to bless others to the glory of God.
