Ephesians 6:19-20

…and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Ephesians 6:19-20

Paul concludes his exhortation on the armor God by instructing believers to pray with perseverance (Ephesians 6:18) and then pleads the Ephesian church would pray for him as shown in the verses above. Paul was no amateur to suffering from all sorts of physical grief, discouragements, and setbacks, yet he understands the spiritual battle he is in and doesn't want to lose any footing to the devil.

Therefore Paul asks for prayer that he would have boldness to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul knows his purpose and he knows trials are par for the course. But despite knowing these things, he is still a human being like the rest of us who desperately needs Jesus to be his strength.

Let this be a reminder to us all that no matter how spiritually awesome one would appear, we are absolutely dependent upon Jesus for the strength to do His will because the fiery darts are coming whether you like it or not.
