Numbers 15:39b

…remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined.
Numbers 15:39b

Let's face it, left to their own wandering desires, our hearts and our eyes tend toward sin. God's ways include love for Him and for others, compassion, and the spiritual beauty of life lived according to His purposes. The fallen world that we were physically born into calls our hearts to lust for physical reward, love of self above all else, and the ugly destruction left in the wake of our lives lived without Jesus.

How wonderful it is that God Himself intervenes in our lives, through the sacrifice of His Son on our behalf. Believer, you and I have been born again. We have the blessed choice of not only remembering God's commandments, we can depend upon Him to come alongside us and renew our hearts and eyes by the power of His Spirit. It is ours for the asking.

And the commandments of God that we must remember and do? Jesus said in Mark 12:30-31: "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these."

Lord, please help me to do this every day.
