Exodus 1:17

But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive.
Exodus 1:17

The king of Egypt gave a command to the Hebrew midwives, kill all the male children. But we read in the verse above that they feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them. They took a stand and feared God rather than the king. It was a really tough place to be because the king could have killed them.

There will be times when you have to make a tough decision. Do I do what I know the Lord wants me to do? Or do I follow the law, though it goes against God's word? Today's culture would certainly put you in a place where you can be ridiculed, sued, made fun of, and even lose your job or business or worse. There are times when tough emotional questions come our way. Times when we might bend or "forget" God's word because our emotions get the best of us, because of fear of what man can do. Jesus tells us in Matthew 10:28, "Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Fearing God,
